                                      In addition to the full Board of Directors & the Executive Committee, there are some additional Standing Committees as well as a Child Care Advisory Committee.  These committees may include non-board members as needed and available.  The Standing Committees include:

                                      Principles of Ethical Conduct for the Caswell County Partnership for Children
                                      Board of Directors
                                      CASWELL COUNTY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN Board members shall:
                                      • Embrace the greater societal acceptance for child well-being and the importance of high quality early childhood services for all children.
                                      • Treat all people with respect and fairness.
                                      • Not tolerate or ignore abusive or neglectful behavior to children.
                                      • Not engage in conversation or physical acts that may harass, discriminate, intimidate, demean, or personally offend others.
                                      • Seek out the truth, tell the truth, and avoid misrepresentation.
                                      • Not use their board positions for personal gain.
                                      • Act impartially and not seek preferential treatment for any organization or individual inside or outside the agency.
                                      • Have the courage to offer a minority opinion when necessary and be willing to listen to and consider other opinions when offered.
                                      • Once made, support, indeed defend, board decisions, even if one’s own view is a minority one.
                                      • Maintain open communication and an effective partnership with the Board’s officer and committee leadership.
                                      • Promote public confidence in Smart Start and take ownership of our collective work.
                                      • Be “solution focused”, offering criticism only in a constructive manner.
                                      • Not disclose or discuss differences of opinion on the board outside of board meetings, especially with staff, volunteers or clients.
                                      • Promote open and public discourse of key policy and/or funding discussions.
                                      • Maintain full confidentiality of information obtained as a result of board service.
                                      • Embrace the need to be respectful of the concerns, expressions, and ideas that arise from the inherent values of diverse cultures and belief systems.
                                      • Refrain from giving direction, as an individual board member, to the Executive Director or any member of staff.
                                      • Not go behind the Executive Director’s back to seek information for the purpose of evaluating his/her performance.
                                      • Be good stewards of the money provided to us.
                                      • Comply with the annually completed Conflict of Interest Policy Statement.
