Participant Expectations

As Early Childhood Educators we all want to be considered professionals and part of that professionalism is how we behave when attending workshops, trainings, conferences, etc. In the past we have had several comments about unprofessional behavior of some participants. For that reason, we are sharing a few basic training expectations.

Be one time: Late arrivals interrupt the learning of others and sometimes distract the trainer. Participants that are more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted.

Keep side conversations to a minimum: Presenters spend hours in preparation for workshops and trainings. Out of respect for them and the other participants, listen attentively to the presentation. Share your questions and comments with the whole group rather than just the people around you.

Turn cell phone on silent or off: If you have to take a call, quietly leave the room. Ringing and/or conversations interrupt the instructor’s train of thought and can be distracting to fellow attendees.

Leave children at home: Be considerate of the children. It’s very hard for young children to be quiet for two or more hours and we as early childhood educators should not ask that of them.

Clean up after yourself: The staff understands that you may need to bring something to eat or drink with you but please dispose of your own trash in the appropriate containers.

Thank you for your cooperation.
